ISO 9001 is a quality management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), designed to provide organizations of all types with a scientific and systematic management framework to ensure that product and service quality meets customer and regulatory requirements. Its core features include:

Wide applicability‌: Suitable for organizations in any industry and of any size, including manufacturing, services, educational institutions, etc., emphasizing improved quality stability through standardized management‌.


The latest version of the standard is ISO 9001:2015. Global application data shows that even during economic fluctuations, the number of certified enterprises continues to grow steadily‌.


ISO 9001 is a quality management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), applicable to various organizations. It aims to enhance quality levels, strengthen competitiveness, and achieve international alignment through systematic management methods‌. Its core principles include customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, and continual improvement, emphasizing the achievement of quality objectives through process optimization and evidence-based decision-making‌.

 

The ISO 9001 quality management system certification audit process can be divided into three main phases:‌ preparation phase, audit phase, and post-certification supervision‌. The specific steps are as follows:

 

I. Preliminary Preparation Phase

  • Prepare the quality manual, procedural documents, and record forms, ensuring coverage of all standard clauses (clauses not affecting customer requirements may be excluded)‌.

  • The system must be operational for at least 3 months, and at least one internal audit and management review must be completed‌.

  • Submit the application, manual, and other materials; after review by the certification body, sign the contract and arrange the audit plan‌.        


II. Certification Audit Phase

  • Stage 1 Audit (Document Review):‌

    The certification body reviews the documents for compliance with the ISO 9001 standard and proposes modifications‌.


  • Stage 2 Audit (On-site Audit):‌

    The audit team verifies the effectiveness of the system operation through sampling checks, interviews, etc., and issues a non-conformity report‌.


  • The enterprise must rectify non-conformities within a specified time limit; after submitting evidence, the certification body decides whether to issue the certificate‌.


III. Post-Certification Supervision

  • Surveillance Audit:‌

    One surveillance audit per year during the certificate's validity period to ensure the system continues to comply with the standard‌.

     

  • Re-certification:‌

    A re-assessment must be applied for before the certificate expires after 3 years, following the same process as the initial certification‌.
